Warlock WOW Tactics
Greetings, brother, lok'tar, or whatever greeting seems apt for you.
I am here because you wish to learn about, or have already chosen the dark path of being a warlock. First of all, let's discuss the lore of warlocks.

Warlock Lore
Originally, the first warlock apprentices were those of the shaman of old Ner'Zhul, a pawn of the Eredar lord Kil’jaeden. These, however, practiced mostly shamanistic behavior. The next generation of warlocks were lead by Gul'dan, who succeeded in corrupting the original orcs and starting the chain of events from the original Warcraft games. All warlocks have the ability, upon reaching the appropriate levels, to summon demons from the Twisting Nether and binding them to service. Some warlocks are corrupted by going beyond that of normal power and letting the dark energies take over. Let us hope you do not share that fate.

Pros and Cons

There are pros and cons to the class, like any other, and the ones you need to know are these:

Pros: A free mount at level 40; a demonic minion which never needs food; very good PvP playability due to curse debuffs.
Cons: Most of your good moves require soul shards, which must be collected as needed and are non-stackable in your inventory; demon moves must be purchased for each individual demon.

The Beginning
Now that you know a bit about your proud history and some pros and cons of the class, let us venture into the aspect itself, starting with what you can expect from your first few days of playing.

As you should see only some races of warcraft can become warlocks, these are the undead, orcs, humans, and gnomes soon to be in the burning crusade patch blood elves too will be warlock available.

All races, no matter what, should begin by picking up your beginner quest from the NPC in front of you. Complete this quest and turn it in. If you are not level 2 by now, continiue killing the low level animals until you level, then turn in the quest and pick up your class trainer quest. Follow the directions to your class trainer and pick up some moves now to add more to your arsenal (if you do not know, new moves are available every 2 levels).

Your trainer should also have a quest for you to obtain your basic demon, the imp. This cuddly little critter includes such bonuses as Blood Pact (which you will get later from the demon trainer). The quest to obtain your imp usually involves obtaining am item currently in the possession of a level 5 mob. At this time, you could try to do the quest by yourself but I don't recommend it. Instead, you should either level and attempt it later, or group with other people. Once you obtain the quest item, you should turn it in as soon as possible to get your imp. Let's skip a few levels and quests and get to level 10. By now you should go get your second demon, but lets talk about something else first.

Warlock Talents
Talents. Every class has them, and they shape the character to the style of play the player decides.

The first category build is Affliction, which specialized in curses, drains, and some damage over time spells.
The second category is Demonology and will grant more power to the demons you use as your sidekick.
The final category for your talent build is Destruction, which adds more damage to your many Destruction category spells such as Shadow Bolt.

This tome of knowledge is what I shall leave you with to combat the many forces every warlock shall face in their time of trial. Farewell, and remember: You control the powers of the Twisting Nether. They don't control you.
