Rogues are the masters of stealth and other dark things that go bump in the night. If you need more information check out the skill/talent browser for a rouge.

You start out with your basic equipment and a trusty dagger. Upgrading your equipment is not the most important thing during levels 1-10 because you end up getting so much from quests and whatnot, thus it is not really worth upgrading. Rogues start with a few abilities. All abilities for a rogue use the energy bar, which is like mana for a Mage and is located right below your health bar. If you do not have enough energy you can't perform the move.

Now back to abilities. Sinister Strike is a melee move which will add four extra points to your normal weapon damage and it also adds one combo point. What is a combo point you ask? This is a special way rogues can deal damage

Every time you perform a move, such as Sinister Strike, a row of bubbles will appear around your targets picture. If you keep performing moves that give you a combo point, they will keep adding up. The max combo points you can have is five. So once you have a number of combo points filled up, you can perform moves that use these combo points. For example the ability Eviscerate. This ability is based on the number of combo points - the more combo points, the more damage it causes.I find though that if you are fighting some mob of equal level to your own, you can usually get three combo points before your energy is diminished, close to being mortally wounded. When you get to this point, perform a move such as Eviscerate to finish your target off.

When you get your stealth ability, get ready to have some fun. Sneaking around and killing things is a great time! Rogues get a default little bar above the regular action bar to go in and out of stealth mode. When you enter stealth mode you get a new action bar, which you will need to fill up with certain abilities. Then after you exit out of stealth mode, your regular action bar will come back.

Stealth is very useful, whether you need to explore a cave and do not want to aggro any mobs(though it just may happen) or just need too sneak up on someone and pick their pocket. Some mobs can detect you when you are in stealth and some cannot. The best method is to try and sneak up behind a monster, perform Back Stab and then continue to build up your combo points then perform a finishing move, such as Eviscerate. You can really tear through the mobs this way. Pickpocketing is a neat little ability. Though i have not pickpocketed anything outstanding, you can guarantee some copper when you go to pick pocket a mob. Wish you could use this on players.

Once you get to level ten you can learn to dual wield, which is always very cool. Dual wield means more damage and now you gotta spend money on another dagger. Or you might even have one by now.
